The Silent Escape

The Silent Escape

Romanian stage legend, beloved Oana Pellea, returns to London starring in The Silent Escape, a compelling performance inspired by the diaries of artist Lena Constante.

The play, brilliantly adapted for the stage and directed by Oana Pellea, is a story of survival, inner freedom and resistance against oppression. It is based on the harrowing experiences of visual artist and memoirist Lena Constante (1909 – 2005) written during her long and dark years in communist prisons. There is none other than Oana Pellea to better convey the author’s emotions, suffering and invincible hope through art and introspection.

Join us for this momentous one-woman show! Expect to be moved, shaken and ultimately changed by this theatrical experience.

The Silent Escape is brought to London by the Romanian Cultural Institute as part Romania’s programme at the London Book Fair and presented in partnership with Kibo Production. The show is a production of the National Theatre of Bucharest. Media partners: Povești spuse-n românește and Rostalgy.
