The Light in Your Heart and The Way Back Home

Hero Image

‘A single performance can change a life. Let this night kindle the lamp within your heart.’

Rooted in Eastern wisdom, Tiangu Troupe creates theatre that speaks to the heart. In this special performance, step into three timeless parables of devotion, awakening, and a heart returning home.

These are not mere stories. They are mirrors, reflecting every traveller as they walk through the mirage of this world.

Whether a student seeking direction, a weary wanderer of city life, a creator in search of clarity, or a soul longing to break free from the quiet repetition of everyday life,
may this evening rekindle a long-forgotten light within you.

‘Let us meet in the theatre.
Between shadow and glow, rediscover yourself and set foot on a new path.’

Synopsis

Story One - Oteru’s Lamp

After the passing of her adoptive parents, the orphan Oteru begins a solitary journey across mountains and wilderness to offer a lamp on Mount Kōya, praying for her parents and the people of her village.
A hundred miles of danger, carried by a single flame of devotion.
How will she withstand the storms of fate?
And how can one small lamp, once offered, shine without end?

Story Two - The Barber

In ancient India, where the caste system casts long shadows, a humble barber hears rumour of a wisdom said to quiet suffering and open the gates of understanding.
Unfazed by mockery or status, he follows only the yearning of a heart seeking liberation.
Can someone born into poverty truly reach the vastness of real wisdom?

Story Three - The Poor Son Returns Home

A wealthy man’s son leaves home in search of “true happiness.”
Years of wandering reduce him to exhaustion, his purpose forgotten, his path home erased.
Fate reunites him with the father who has never stopped searching for him.
Where does true happiness dwell?
And could “returning home” mean returning to something that was never lost?
