Around the World in 80 Days — a new stage format
Adapted by: Savaş Özdural
The living world of radio theatre—voices, effects, and music—comes to the stage. 5 actors, 14 microphones, 60 sound-effect devices, 5 musical instruments, 40 characters. The actors voice every character at the mics while creating all effects and music live with over 60 devices—bathtub, sewing machine, balloon, rice, wind machine, steam iron, and their own bodies.
While radio theatre has been staged before in Türkiye and worldwide, those versions used a single foley artist. Here, the actors both act and produce effects—claimed as a world first and patented.
For audiences 7 to 70, it’s the joy of radio drama plus the thrill of seeing how the sounds are made. In 70 nonstop minutes, the ensemble rides elephants through jungles, clashes with Native Americans, and weathers an ocean storm—a tightly synchronized visual-aural show.
