Nadezhdiny
Having been called the sensation of the year, "Nadezhdiny" is a compelling play starring internationally acclaimed actress Masha Mashkova presented by Bird&Carrot Productions. It tells a powerful love story of Milania Sevruk and Evgeny Zelenskyi, an opponent of Vladimir Lenin known under the pseudonym Nadezhdin, who advocated for an alternative democratic revolution. He was killed at the age of 28 and erased from official histories, ensuring he would not inspire future generations.
Their remarkable tale, set against the backdrop of the Empire's fall, has been preserved and conveyed to us through the diary of Melania Sevruk. A century later, these diaries resurface, discovered by their great-granddaughter, Masha Mashkova. In the play Evgeny’s story is resurrected, exploring broader urgent and universal themes of love, memory, identity, duty as well as personal costs of resistance in the historical and current times.
